Singing Hands

Signing fun for little ones

Isabel and her mummy 'scream' at the crocodile in Row Your Boat

Even more fun than you described! Can’t wait to come back. I’ve really enjoyed the learning the signs myself – I felt like I got my brain going for the first time in a while!

About our Resources

Reviews of our resources have appeared in several publications:

EYE (Early Years Educator), June 2008

Their reviewer described the content of the books and CDs and concluded that they are:

‘a musical treat to share with babies and young children’.

Bulletin

The Official Magazine of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (Feb 2008) gave the resources five stars for both content and readability.

The use of Makaton rather than gestures with the songs is particularly good for children who are learning to sign for communication….This product will be useful across a wide range of ages and settings

Speech and Language Therapy in Practice (Winter 2007)

Describes our resources as ‘Fun and engaging’:

A welcome Makaton resource for anyone working with preschool to Key Stage 1 children. Easy to recommend to other professionals too…..The music is fun and engaging, particularly for preschool children. The signing level ranges from simple action songs to fully signed songs…..The signs are clear from the pictures and there are also photos of children and adults using the key signs

We have also received lots of feedback from customers

Nursery Education Plus (November 2007)

Our books and CDs appeared in their TEN OF THE BEST selection of SEN Resources.

Dear Suzanne and Tracy
Just wanted to say how great it is to have supplementary material to your classes – James loves the 2 CDs and they have to be played EVERY DAY, at first he kept looking for the two of you as he obviously recognised your voices (which was very comical) James’ signing has improved immensely since also attending the toddler drop-in session you run on Tuesday.

I find the 2 books of songs great reference to refer to if I’ve forgotten a sign and very easy to use.
Thank you both and keep up the good work!!!

Hi there,
My daughter and I just wanted to say what great fun we are having with your new song books and CD’s. They are proving to be a very good buy.

My daughter has Down’s syndrome and finds it very difficult to communicate verbally and the signs have stopped her becoming so frustrated with me, as I can now understand her needs and they are just great fun to do.

Best wishes and keep up the great work!

Dear Tracy and Suzanne
We played your CDs and used the books with a client for first time today. What a brilliant session! Loved Row Your Boat in particular!! The books are well set out and so easy to follow. Loved the photos and symbols, which really helped with understanding what we were signing about. 10/10 perfect presention. Well done to you both. Will recommend it to everyone!

Congratulations on the publication of your books and CDs – what a great achievement! I am sure that they will prove to be an invaluable and much needed resource to parents, carers and professionals who use and/or are beginning to use Makaton. The books are of excellent quality, clear and informative. There is also a good variety of both old and new songs amongst the two volumes (and 60 songs with about 400 signs to use and learn!) Keep up the excellent work….and when is the DVD coming out!!!??

The Singing Hands CD Vol. 2 is providing my two girls (three and one) with hours of entertainment. They love the sound effects which have them howling with laughter. The pace of the CD is well thought out, with lots of lively, easy to remember favourites and calmer songs towards the end. As a mum, I like learning some of the new songs too! Speaking from much experience, it’s one of the best children’s CDs I’ve ever listened to.

I run a charity from home (in memory of my daughter Daisy who died from epilepsy) and wanted to purchase a small supply of your resources to loan to parents of children with this condition.

I think Singing Hands are WONDERFUL and I can’t recommend you highly enough to any mum I meet who has a child with special needs.  (My little girl, Grace, squeals with delight every time she sees you!)

Well done for bringing so much sunshine into the lives of children with special needs.
